Kasalan...

I wanted a different kind of wedding... my wife always wanted a mountain wedding. Thanks to our 4x4 & offroad buddies we were able to bring our dream to life :)

Anyway, before everything we talked to Tita Adel to ask permission for the use of her place in Jungle Base where we want to have the ceremonies, and it's a good thing she's the regional judge for Region 4; we also asked her if she could preside... and she agreed! No big surprise, you say? Well, she admitted she don't do much weddings, only those that are "almost family" to her (her words)...

We also told her we want the place to look like what it always looks like. Rugged, no special arrangements/decorations, etc... and she didn't comply :P She had the place all "dressed-up..." but I wouldn't dare argue with her :D

SO, plans and invitations were sent out (via SMS) and we met with guests who will join the convoy at Shell Station, St. Ignatius.

Ok, so off we go, and on the light trails (LIGHT trails!) the uninitiated kept on cursing me on the handheld radios for bringing them up in the mountains, on very uneven terrain, with the vehicles they've brought (most of them didn't have a 4x4, but since some of the vehicles' ground clearance was enough I assured them of a safe trip), and whatever else they can think of... as soon as we enter Tita Adel's property (with the overlooking view of the river) all I heard were praises (on how beautiful the place is, etc.) and thanks (for bringing them there) and all other flowery words... Oh well, I expected that.

Well, after the ceremonies, we ate (food cooked by my wife, her cousin, and my father-in-law!), but some of the guests had to leave early because of other previous commitments...

The Land Rover Club of the Philippines also arrived. Some of our 4x4 offroading friends were also invited: Delta Recon, TeamX, Painted Black & Em, Rookie, Defpotec -- all members of the 4x4 Philippines family!

When everyone had full stomachs and were free to do whatever, we brought some of the guests down Daraitan River in Kuya Dennis's place.

Let me share something with the visitors of this site: During lunch a lot of my relatives (mom, titas, etc.) kept on telling me to start planning for the Church wedding (I have nothing against that, and that's already in our plans) because "it's better to have the Lord's blessing," but let me take this opportunity to say that I really really believe we were still blessed by the Lord on this day, and the days ahead. I KNOW we have His blessing. How? This was a Saturday (Aug. 28, 2004) and the whole week before, starting Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, it has been raining really hard on & off. BUT on that day it didn't rain a single drop. AND the next day it rained (not as hard, but it still did!) He knew we couldn't move the date any further, so there... and besides I believe that God is everywhere.
